Art of the Mountains

The natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains has inspired artists for generations. During this week of summer camp, children will craft some of Appalachia’s traditional folk-art such as pottery, jewelry making, stain glass and leather crafting in a fun way. The motto of “the mountain to not throw anything away that still has life” will influence the children’s creations for the week.

This theme encourages kids to tap into their creativity and try their had at various art forms, such as drawing, painting, sculpting and collage. They will learn about famous artists, create their own art projects, and participate in art-themed games and activities.

The ocean has always captured the imagination of artists, young and old as they seek to understand its power, beauty and mystery. This week we will explore the sea and its magic through various mediums, such as paper-mache, print making, painting and crafts. Whether we are drawing imaginary mermaids, printing sharks and turtles, or painting salty ocean waves, this week will deliver a nautical exploration.
